When it comes to animal dissections, most of the Malaysian students dissect animals like frog, guinea pig( i used to dissect it before), hamsters and fish(both are in my list too) . To further investigate on animal respiration, my lecturer wanted us to get any animals to be dissected to check on their respiration systems. Well, one of my group member managed to catch a huge grasshopper. There some groups were dissecting cockroaches. That's YUCKSS!!!! Poor grasshopper. I felt so sorry for you. I was the culprit in this violent crime. I had to because none of my group members would dare to touch it, not to say dissect it. Before the dissection, we needed to kill it using chloroform in a closed jar. And then put it on a dissecting board made of wax as you can see in the picture below. Nice wings, huh?
The photo above was taken through the lens of the microscope..Clear image. Check out those air bags/ air sacs. It was my first time dissecting an insect and i got to tell you that it was fascinating to look at the respiratory systems of fish, grasshopper as well as cockroach. By the way, i dissected a fish before this grasshopper's dissection. think i've deleted some of the photos. One could hardly get this kind of chance to dissect animal if it isn't for academic use. So, syukurlah!!!==''
Try to get photos of cockroach from my friends( if they still keep them)
Lastly, we all appreciated your sacrifice, which made my practical a success...
